Mankind Pharma pays

September 25 has been designated as World Pharmacists Day, a time to reflect on the work pharmacists do to ensure the communities they serve have access to the best possible medications and care. Regardless of the emergency or crisis, community pharmacists have been there for their patients.

We have Pharmacies that are open 24X7 every day. Even during the COVID pandemic, pharmacies were open to provide medication to the people in need. They get no holidays and they can’t close their shops early. Sometimes they need to cater to people in need even in the middle of the night. These are the people who have devoted their lives in serving the people and we would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude towards them.

Through a video campaign Mankind Pharma showcases the story of a hardworking middle aged man who owns a small pharmacy store and lives in an old house on his own. While he has been selling medicines to others and has given medicines to people not having money, when he falls sick there is no one to get him medicine. A small kid from the neighbourhood gets medicine for him in the end giving a message ‘while you have been taking care of us when you need us we are there for you’.

Joy Chatterjee, Deputy General Manager, Mankind Pharma, said, “The way pharmacists have worked amidst the Coronavirus pandemic is truly commendable. This year has been a tough time for all but pharmacists have worked endlessly without thinking about their health just to provide health medication to others. So, this year is a tribute to pharmacists, doctors and nurses and we are thankful to them for their sacrifices in every situation/ crisis. Humanity has a new benchmark altogether.”

The campaign which has been conceptualized by Grapes Digital, Shradha Agarwal, Co-founder and COO of Grapes Digital says, “World Pharmacist Day is now in its 10th year as pharmacists around the world help in the COVID-19 crisis. They have been there providing mental health support for drought victims, finding ways to get medicines to patients isolated by bushfires or flood, and establishing COVID-safe protocols to keep their pharmacies open and that’s how we tried to build the concept around this year’s theme which is Transforming global health to thank them for their day and night duties to provide medication to the people in need”.

This is the most relevant year to celebrate World Pharmacists Day as they played a very crucial role in the tough times when everyone was sitting at home with the fear of COVID 19, they were the one who sacrificed and worked late hours.
