Covid-19 Central teams

In an endeavour to support states in their efforts to combat Covid-19 situation as cases have been on the rise, the health ministry will soon deploy central teams.

The teams would be deployed in four states — Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha — after a sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in these states, with some reporting more number of fatalities, a TOI report said.

Out of these four states, UP has the most number of active cases (54,666), followed by Odisha (27,219), Chhattisgarh (13,520) and Jharkhand (11,577). In terms of cumulative cases till date, UP has 2,25,632, Odisha (1,00,934), Jharkhand (38,435) and Chhattisgarh with 30,092 cases, the report further said.

In terms of number of fatalities, Uttar Prades fares at the top among these four states. UP has reported 3423 death while Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh reported 482, 410 and 269 deaths respectively.

“The teams will support the states’ efforts towards strengthening containment, surveillance, testing and efficient clinical management of positive cases,” the health ministry said.

With daily intake of more than 70,000 cases, India’s total tally has crossed 35 million. Most baffling fact is now cases are on the rise in remote areas where healthcare facilities are not up to the mark. Delhi which saw little drop in active cases in last month, is again witnessing upward trend.
