digital health In an effort to improve healthcare infrastructure and services at various units, Bhubaneswar health and family welfare department has decided to introduce a new digital health scheme for patients.

It is likely to roll out by the end of August and will introduce telemedicine, new applications, digitisation, and others.

“We have prepared the modalities and related reports for the new scheme and sent it to the state finance department for appraisal. A meeting has been called on next Friday to discuss the new scheme. It is likely to be approved there and will be introduced shortly,” said a health and family welfare department official.

An e-hospital system will be introduced under this scheme where all the data of the patients would be recorded and maintained on a unified online platform.

An integrated disease surveillance app will also be launched for the officials. It will monitor various kinds of disease outbreaks from a single platform, and steps will be taken accordingly to control the spread.

For the citizens, an application will also be launched for getting the appointment for doctors at the hospitals.

There is a plan of launching a smartphone app, by which people will get access to the information on the doctors timing, bed availability and other provisions in hospital.
