Apollo Pharmacy, a part of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise on Friday commissioned its 3000th retail unit at Seevaram, Thuraipakkam, Chennai. Apollo Hospitals which is Indias largest integrated healthcare player manages the largest organised pharmacy retail chain in the country.

Apollo Pharmacy was started in 1987 with the goal to protect consumers from spurious drugs. It also aimed to ensure round-the-clock access to genuine life-saving and OTC drugs to people. Today it is Indias largest retail pharmacy chain having its presence in 18 states covering over 400 cities. The pharmacy dispenses over 3.5 Lakh prescriptions per day.

Commenting on the development, Dr Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman and Founder, Apollo Hospitals said, I am very pleased that the movement against spurious drugs that we started in 1987 with a single store has today blossomed into a countrywide presence.

Speaking on the occasion, Shobana Kamineni, Joint vice-chairman Apollo Hospitals said, Apollo Pharmacy is not just Asias first and largest branded pharmacy network, but it has pioneered value-added services like free home delivery, refill reminder programs and community health camps.

We achieved this milestone because of the trust customers reposed in Apollo pharmacy and the commitment and hard work of its 19,000 dedicated employees who serve 3,50,000 customers per day in over 400 cities and towns in 18 states, she added.

Apollo pharmacy has conceptualised new format stores providing the latest therapies against NCDs as it pose huge burden on public health.

Apollo pharmacy will start several programms for chronic care and preventive care in coming days. As part of its commitment to strengthen Health & Wellness sector in India, Apollo Pharmacy also introduced Holland & Barrett, UKs leading wellness products this year.
