The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) occupied the centre stage at the recently held India Medical Device Conference-2017, which was jointly organised by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Department of Industrial Policy Promotion and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).

The India Medical Device Conference 2017 was one of the largest events for the Indian Pharmaceutical market. The inaugural session was attended by Ananth Kumar, Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers; Siddharamaiah, Chief Minister of Karnataka; Mansukh L Mandaviya, Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers; Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry; Dr HenkBekedam, WHO Representative to India and a plethora of other guests from the government, industry and trade associations.


The inaugural session also witnessed medical devices being declared as a separate segment by Sitharaman followed by the release of the report titled Medical Device Manufacturing in India: A Sunrise, which is the first of its kind in India.

The report was prepared in joint collaboration between Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), DoP, DIPP and WHO. The swift work and progress done in a matter of six months from the time of inception at AMTZ was applauded by the Ministers and everybody present at the event.

With manufacturers from across the country and MNCs forming a beeline to be a part of AMTZ, the India Medical Device Conference 2017 & India Pharma 2017 emerged as a platform to show the world that AMTZ is a Make in India dream come true to reduce the cost of healthcare in the country and world over.
