Ireena Vittal
Ireena Vittal, a former partner with McKinsey & Co and senior management consultant with over two decades of experience, has been appointed as an independent director of drug company Cipla.
The IIM-Kolkata alumnus will join Cipla’s board on December 1, a company statement said.
“Cipla is in the midst of preparing itself for an exciting future and her background of both business and advisory will be very useful to the company,” Cipla Ltd Non-utive Chairman Y K Hamied said in the statement.
Vittal is an independent strategic advisor, with significant knowledge in agriculture and urban development in India and emerging markets. She has over two decades of experience as a recognised thought leader to consumer facing companies looking to build large scale, profitable businesses in emerging markets.
She has co-authored several studies relating to agriculture and urbanisation. Vittal is an acclaimed strategy consultant on agriculture, consumer brands and urban development.
