ebola virusSex workers in Sonagachi, Kolkata’s biggest red light district, have been asked not to entertain African customers due to fears of the ebola virus, by Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee (DMSC), a forum of sex workers in West Bengal.

A DMSC spokesperson said that the sex workers had been asked not to entertain Africans as it could be life threatening if they got infected by the ebola virus.

DMSC is also training the sex workers how to identify a person infected by ebola virus through symptoms.

Asked if the guideline applied to all foreigners, not just Africans showing the symptoms, the spokesperson said it was for the sex workers to decide.
