The Global Healthcare Summit 2013 will be held  in Kochi, Kerala, from January 1 to 3, 2013. The summit will  be jointly organized by the Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) and Indian Medical Association (IMA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs & Ministry of Health.

The summit aims to identify and bring in innovative and cost-effective healthcare solutions to India with the support of the large number of Indian medical diaspora.


The summit, involving large number of eminent doctors of Indian origin and leading practitioners from across the globe, looks for exploring possibilities for greater collaboration and cooperation between the healthcare providers in India and abroa

AAPI said the upcoming meet aims at advancing the accessibility, affordability and the quality of world-class healthcare to the people of India. Among other areas, the summit will focus on prevention, diagnosis, treatment options and share ways to truly improve healthcare transcending global boundaries, said AAPI president Dr Narendra Kumar in a statement.

Healthcare in India is one of the largest sectors, in terms of revenue and employment. India is making significant improvements in the healthcare infrastructure and is building modern medical facilities throughout India. Indian doctors have made tremendous progress in the medical field and have vast expertise to help their Motherland, he said.


The summit, a public-private partnership initiative, is a progressive transformation from the first Indo-US Healthcare Summit launched by AAPI, USA in 2007.

The meet means providing a forum for innovative opportunities for learning, networking and giving back to our homeland, Dr. Jayesh Shah, president-elect of AAPI, said.

The dignitaries to address the meet include Union Minister of Overseas Affairs Shri Vayalar Ravi, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, Kerala Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy, Kerala Health Minister Shri V S Sivakumar, Kerala Tourism Minister Shri A P Anil Kumar, Advisor to the Prime Minister of India  Shri. T.K.A Nair, Shri. Ramesh Chennithala, Shri.Pinaray Vijayan, and Smt. Sreemathy Teacher.

Expected to have over 1,000 participants from across the globe, the summit will have keynote speakers and panelists like Jeremy Lazarus, MD (President, American Medical Association, Chicago), Emmanuel G.
