IMTCA 2012 the 1st edition of Indian Medical Tourism Conference and Alliance was held in Hyderabad, on 2nd and 3rd November at The Park Hotel. The conference was organized in association with i-Transition Worldwide (I) P Limited and ONE HealthCare Worldwide, USA.


IMTCA 2012 proved an integrated platform to the medical and tourism professionals to participate, share and network with delegates and exchange ideas on research, academic and economic values. The conference aimed to share empirical knowledge and showcase best practices from across the globe at a common forum.

Chief Guest Dr. Pushpa Mitra Bhargava, Founder of Center for Cellular Molecular Biology, spoke about the scope for Indian medical tourism industry and said, India has tremendous potential to be the most preferred medical tourism destination. It has the best expertise, cultural and socio “ economic elements that can make India the worlds finest medical tourism hub.

Addressing the press conference in Hyderabad and talking about the importance of medical tourism industry, Ms. Varsha Lafargue, Founder and Chairperson, IMTCA and i-Transition Worldwide said Medical Tourism has become a major source of National Incomes in many countries. While countries like Israel, Jordan, etc. have limited natural resources, the revenue contribution through Medical Tourism towards their GDPs is substantial and growing. Jordan enjoys 5% of their GDP from Medical tourism and Israels is growing double digit figures. India enjoys both an abundance of manpower and natural resources; the economic contribution through an organized Medical Tourism System will be able to generate revenues in Billions of dollars in the short coming years.


The conference was attended by around 200 medical practitioners, tourism professionals and specialists from across the country to attend the two day conference. A high level delegation from 8 countries including some eminent speakers coming down to conduct sessions was also present at the conference. Through these sessions, the conference aims to largely cover Global Medical Tourism on the first day and Positioning Hyderabad as medical tourism hub in India on the second day.
