Brocade announced the appointment of Charlie Foo to the role of vice president for Asia Pacific (APAC) effective immediately. Foo succeeds Deb Dutta to assume the regions top role responsible for charting the companys overall growth strategy across Asia Pacific and will be based in Singapore re-porting directly into Ian Whiting, senior vice president of Worldwide Sales.
An industry veteran with more than 20 years of sales management and leadership experience, Foo was most recently senior director of the Brocade Partner Business Group for APAC where he drove the companys regional business strategy for growth and diversification, and led the partner strategy with distributors, resellers, OEMs and global systems integrators across the region. He joined Brocade in January 2007.
Brocade is widely regarded for its industry leading networking solutions, providing service provider infrastructure, campus LANs, cloud-enabled data centers and storage networking. According to Forre-ster Research*, APAC is a growth region for IT with total investments in region expected to exceed $500 billion (USD) in 2012, a 10 percent increase from $460 billion in 2011, making it the third-largest IT market in the world. Investments for networking and communications infrastructure are also ex-pected to grow in 2012 to almost $100 billion driven by the proliferation of smartphones and other po-werful mobile devices as well as data center build-outs and modernization projects.
Prior to joining Brocade, Foo was regional director of Channel and Alliance for Asia Pacific/Japan at Veritas-Symantec. He also assumed senior regional leadership positions at IBM Corporation (software Group, Asia Pacific), Compaq Computers Asia/Pacific and Singapore Computer Systems. He holds an MBA from the University of Dubuque, Iowa, USA.
