New Delhi is going to host 63rd Annual National Conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS) at Ashoka Hotel, Chanakya Puri, from 16th to 19th January.This year’s theme of the conference is “Providing Mental Health Care to All”.  ANCIPS would provide platform for experts from diverse areas related to psychiatry and mental health to meet, interact, exchange and deliberate.  In addition to this, the conference would be attending by government officials, international bodies; those policy, legal and regulatory authorities; NGOs and Self-help groups, healthcare providers and general public.The highlight of the conference would be a special film festival of movies based on Mental Health issues that include Devrai and Mazi Goshta on 14th & 15th of January. The conference would see the esteem presence of Amol Palekar and Mohan Agashe who would be inaugurating the film festival.Dr Sunil Mittal, Organizing Secretary, ANCIPS-2011 says, “Movies are the best way to reach the masses, and movies like Taare Zameen Par have brought a remarkable acceptability in the society, and I feel Indian directors should focus more on such topics that relates to them”. About Mazi Goshta – Mr. Vidyadhar Bapat (Director & Producer)Mazi Goshta (My Story), written and directed by eminent Psychiatrist Dr. Vidyadhar Bapat, is the dramatized story of a schizophrenic patient who has been gifted with a sense of music creation and composition and who, on the way back to mainstream life, accepts the challenge to perform publicly along with other sufferers. The film addresses the distress he goes through and how he is able to deal with the disorder through the help of his family, doctors, self-help group and music.  The film has English sub-titles.  About Devrai – Sumitra Bhave (Director); K.S.Wani Memorial Trust, Schizophrenia Awareness Association (Producer)’Devrai’ is about Schizophrenia and has a powerhouse cast lead by Atul Kulkarni , Sonali Kulkarni and Dr. Mohan Agashe supported by Devika Daftardar, Tushar Dalvi, Ashish Chitale and others.  Devrai’ has won a total over 15 Awards including 4 Star Screen Awards, 2 Alpha Gaurav Awards, 5 MaTa Samaan Awards, 2 Maharashtra State Awards and 2 International Awards.  Devrai’ is not your run-of-the-mill Marathi film. ‘Devrai’ is a must see film that has been seen and appreciated by Bollywood personalities  Dr Sunil Mittal, Organizing Secretary, ANCIPS-2011 said that ANCIPS would see participation from across India and globally as well.  This year many important developments of the mental health field that include Schizophrenia, Depression, Asian Psychiatry, Psychiatric Neuroscience to name a few, would be tabled and discussed amongst the experts.
