Responding to the requirements of the medical electronics industry and to create awareness about the opportunities as the next growth area after IT sector, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry launched the “FICCI Medical Electronics Forum” (FICCI-MEF) on October 23, 2007 at FICCI New Delhi. The forum was chaired by Anjan Bose, Senior Director – India sub-continent, Philips Electronics India Ltd. FICCI supported by WHO and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organized the International Conference on “Medical Electronics – Advancements on Products and Embedded Systems” in December 2006. The new forum aims at focusing on quality, safety and regulatory issues through harmonization of standards, testing, and calibration. It tries to apprise the government about the issues of its concern and suggest mechanisms to spur the growth of the sector. FICCI MEF Objectives are: To focus on quality, safety, and regulatory issues through harmonization of standards, testing, and calibration To apprise the government about various issues of concern/interest and suggest mechanisms that can spur growth of the sector To generate awareness about available advancements and benefits in medicare and medical electronics technology among healthcare stakeholders Focused skill development and knowledge up gradation through appropriate industry-academia-research body cooperation To promote medical electronics technology for affordable and quality healthcare To facilitate favorable environment for large scale investments in R&D and manufacturing of medical electronics technology
