Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Pune (India) is playing a key role in creating a telemedicine network in Ethiopia. It will be linked to a resource centre in Hyderabad. A pilot project is undertaken as part of the ambitious Pan African e-Health Network, it aims to connect hospitals in all 53 African Union (AU) member countries, with resource centres in India, reached trial phase in Ethiopia. This pilot project will become operational by end-August. The telemedicine network project will cover the State Hospital in Addis Ababa (Primary Regional Telemedicine Centre) and one hospital in the remote eastern region (Remote Telemedicine Centre). CDAC has already covered the northeastern states and Kerala in India, besides parts of north India under state-level tele-medicine networks.
