Intas Pharmaceuticals has entered into an exclusive strategic partnership with IntegriMedical to introduce a needle-free injection system for use in IVF and gynaecology treatments across India. The agreement grants Intas exclusive rights to deploy IntegriMedical’s proprietary needle-free drug delivery technology within these therapy areas, marking a significant step towards patient-centric innovation in reproductive healthcare.
Under the collaboration, Intas will integrate the needle-free injection system into its IVF and gynaecology therapy offerings, with a focus on improving treatment delivery and overall patient experience. The partnership aims to address long-standing challenges associated with conventional injections, including needle-related pain, anxiety, and compliance issues, particularly among women undergoing fertility and gynaecological treatments.
India currently conducts an estimated 300,000 to 350,000 IVF cycles annually, a figure projected to rise to nearly 500,000–600,000 cycles by 2027. Each IVF cycle involves multiple injections, translating into several million injections administered every year. Against this backdrop, the adoption of needle-free injection technology has the potential to meaningfully transform the patient journey by making treatment protocols less invasive and more comfortable.
IntegriMedical’s needle-free system delivers medication using a high-pressure jet stream that administers the drug through a micro-orifice in the skin, eliminating the need for needles. The spray-like delivery mechanism reduces tissue trauma, prevents drug pooling, and lowers the risk of cross-contamination, while maintaining dosing accuracy. These attributes make the technology particularly relevant for repeated injections commonly required in IVF protocols.
Commenting on the collaboration, Sarvesh Mutha, Managing Director of IntegriMedical, highlighted that the partnership goes beyond technological advancement to improving the human experience of care. He noted that working with Intas enables wider adoption of needle-free injections in sensitive therapy areas such as IVF and gynaecology, helping make treatments less intimidating and more patient-friendly.
Durga P. Satapathy, Executive Vice President at Intas Pharmaceuticals, emphasised that the initiative reflects Intas’ commitment to patient-centric innovation. He stated that IVF and gynaecology treatments can be physically and emotionally demanding, and introducing needle-free delivery is intended to make these therapies more reassuring, dignified, and compliant for patients.
The collaboration will see Intas and IntegriMedical jointly working with IVF clinics and gynaecology centres across India to deploy the technology at scale. For the B2B pharmaceutical and healthcare ecosystem, the partnership underscores a growing focus on advanced drug-delivery platforms that enhance patient experience while supporting clinical outcomes and adherence.
