In a significant development for healthcare infrastructure, the Central Armed Police Forces Institute of Medical Sciences (CAPFIMS) has been inaugurated in Maidan Garhi, South Delhi. This cutting-edge medical facility, established at a cost of approximately Rs 2,091 crore, promises to revolutionize healthcare for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the nation at large.

The CAPFIMS campus boasts an impressive array of facilities, including a 970-bed referral and research hospital, a 500-bed general hospital, a 300-bed super-specialty hospital, and 170 ICU/critical care beds. Moreover, it houses a medical college with 100 seats, a college of nursing with 60 seats, and a school of paramedics with 300 seats. Postgraduate and PG diploma courses (60 seats) along with postdoctoral courses (DM & MCh – 10 seats) will also be offered, enhancing medical education opportunities.

This comprehensive medical institute is dedicated to providing super-specialty and tertiary healthcare services, encompassing medical treatment, nursing care, and paramedical training. Specifically designed to cater to the unique needs of CAPF beneficiaries, the campus features specialized centers such as the Trauma Centre, Artificial Limb Centre, Mental Health Counselling Centre, and Physical Rehabilitation Centre.

The collaboration between CAPFIMS and the Central Armed Police Forces marks a significant step towards bolstering healthcare infrastructure across the country. By providing opportunities for medical graduates and specialists to serve within the CAPFs’ medical cadre, this initiative aims to elevate the standard of healthcare for those serving the nation.

Notably, the establishment of CAPFIMS is poised to create substantial employment opportunities, with 4,354 positions set to be generated for the operationalization of the campus. This underscores the institute’s commitment not only to healthcare excellence but also to economic growth and job creation.
