In a bid to strengthen healthcare services in government schools, Emirates Health Services (EHS) and Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery, Dubai have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership primarily aims to elevate the medical environment in schools, ramp up educational programmes enhancing student awareness, and improve therapeutic and counselling services.

The agreement was signed amidst prominent figures, including Dr Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EHS; Dr Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director General of EHS; and Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings.

Dr Al Olama emphasised the value of exchanging expertise to uplift medical services, and to bolster ties between public and private sectors. He signified EHS’ aspiration to undertake joint ventures that would enrich the healthcare industry and the quality of patient services.

Echoing these sentiments, Dr Al-Serkal highlighted that the MoU reinforces EHS’s vision for the healthcare future, which is in line with the national vision of ‘We are the Emirates 2031’ and the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071. He noted that the primary focus would be enhancing healthcare in government schools and increasing student health awareness.

Dr Vayalil, on behalf of Burjeel Hospital, expressed pride in the partnership, emphasizing the opportunity for knowledge exchange. He remarked, “We aim to offer unparalleled healthcare services, making a lasting positive impact in our community.”

Director of the Public Health Department at EHS, Dr Shamsa Majid Lootah, reiterated the MoU’s role in amplifying students’ health and well-being. Among the many initiatives included are early-stage scoliosis checks, offering healthier food options for chronically ill students, and initiating research to cement the collaboration between the two entities further.
