The Apollo Hospitals Group has entered into a collaboration with the University of Leicester, marking an enhancement of its existing ties with the UK. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to bolster international cooperation and pave the way for joint initiatives in healthcare management, healthcare, and data science education and research.
Preetha Reddy, the Vice Chairperson of the Apollo Hospitals Group, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership. She emphasised that the collaboration aligns with Apollo’s mission to train a healthcare workforce to international standards. The partnership is expected to uncover innovative solutions to global healthcare challenges and address the skills gap in the healthcare sectors of both India and the UK.
Echoing similar sentiments, Professor Nishan Canagarajah, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester, highlighted the potential of the collaboration. He pointed out Apollo’s notable achievements in healthcare and affirmed that by combining the strengths of both institutions, they could pioneer groundbreaking healthcare initiatives.
One of the significant projects spearheaded by the University of Leicester involves a £10 million venture under the leadership of Professor Kamlesh Kunti. This endeavour will collaborate with the governments of the UK, India, and Nepal to enhance the health outcomes of individuals with multiple medical conditions. Additionally, the project aims to establish a self-sustaining international centre.
