G20 Co-Branded Event

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn, Child Health (PMNCH) are jointly organizing a G20 co-branded event called ‘Health of Youth-Wealth of Nation’ in New Delhi today. The event aims to draw attention to the health needs of 1.8 billion adolescents and youth globally and encourage increased investment by G20 nations in their well-being.

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, will inaugurate the event and give the key-note address. Other notable attendees include Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Sports and Youth Affairs Shri Anurag Thakur, and several other government officials. Dr. Mathume Joseph ‘Joe’ Phaahla, the Health Minister of South Africa, will also speak at the event.

With India having the largest youth population, the event highlights the importance of investing in their health and well-being to achieve economic growth. It aims to empower youth as change-makers, facilitate dialogue among policymakers and experts, and involve young participants in policy-making processes. The event will feature technical sessions on adolescent health, multi-sectoral partnerships, and a town-hall session for youth engagement. A Marketplace will showcase innovative policies and programs from G20 countries. Influential figures from G20 nations, including G20 Sherpa Shri Amitabh Kant, will lead discussions.
