Artificial Intelligence is making its way fast into the healthcare industry, and it has empowered the industry by a considerable measure. However, regarding startups, there’s still a lot to be done in integrating AI into startup healthcare ventures, shares Rahul Misra, Founder, Vesta Elder Care with Kaanchi Chawla of Elets News Network (ENN). Edited excerpts:

What position do you think Indian healthcare startups are in right now, and how are they doing?

I believe healthcare startups have a broader aspect of growth these days. The disruption we have experienced in the last few years has led to a transformational shift in various healthcare sectors, boosting startup culture.

Especially post-covid, the scope of services for home healthcare providers has increased drastically, and the spectrum has never been broader. Many startups are working very well and flourishing, considering the heightened need for personalised and readily available healthcare.

Do you believe Artificial Intelligence is making a sufficient contribution to the expansion of startup healthcare companies in India?

Indeed, it is. Artificial Intelligence is making its way fast into the healthcare industry, and it has empowered the industry by a considerable measure. However, regarding startups, there’s still a lot to be done in integrating AI into startup healthcare ventures. Nevertheless, it is encouraging to see many startups using AI to provide solutions for pain points and make their patient’s lives easier.

What opportunities and threats do you think Indian startups in the healthcare industry face?

Health-tech startups are building innovative technology and patient-centric solutions. The biggest opportunity is the need to receive quality care at one’s doorstep and the customer’s use of technology to avail the same. The threat is the unorganised sector that is growing in the underbelly of the industry, claiming to provide cheaper solutions without caring for the safety of the patient or quality of care.

What do you think about the current state and prospects for your organisation in the digitally-driven healthcare ecosystem?

As a health-tech company, we are hopeful for our future as our platform integrates AI’s latest technologies to provide seamless home healthcare solutions to our patrons. We are bringing home healthcare to a platform where availing services and monitoring their quality will be possible with just a click, and distance won’t matter regarding caring for your loved ones.

Over the past few years, healthcare has seen a dramatic evolution. Startups are developing new developments and trends in the healthcare sector. Do you believe the healthcare services offered by startups to patients are of high quality?

Healthcare is an industry where there is much competition. Therefore, every startup intends to portray itself as a market differentiator and provider of genuine product solutions. However, startups that begin with solid structural integrity combined with innovative industry practices can provide quality services to patients.
