Cocktail therapy

The cocktail therapy of monoclonal antibody is yielding positive results in the patients suffering from the mutating variants of the Corona. According to the doctors of the Seven Hills Hospital of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 20 Omicron positive patients were given the cocktail therapy of the monoclonal antibody and they recovered within 48 hours.

According to the Municipal Health Department, 1700 Covid patients have been given monoclonal antibody cocktail therapy since May 2021. A single dose of this cocktail medicine costs up to Rs 56 thousand but is given free of cost to patients in municipal hospitals. This treatment has been administered to a number of patients across private hospitals and positive recovery results have been seen.

Dr. Balkrishna Adsul, Dean, Seven Hills Hospital said, “The line of treatment given to Covid patients is the same whether the patient is suffering from the delta variant or from Omicron. Although most of the patients of Omicron have no symptoms, there are 20 patients who had moderate symptoms and also have other diseases. Cocktail therapy has been given to these 20 patients and the results have been good. Patients have recovered within 48 hours. Not every patient needs this therapy. We give cocktail therapy after reviewing the patient’s health problems and not seeing whether he is suffering from Omicron or any other strain.”
