The decision to postpone the exam was apparently undertaken after a panel recommended so amid daily spurt in COVID-19 cases, posing risk to students as well.

On Thursday, the HRD ministry had formed a panel to check the feasibility of conducting the examinations in July. The parents and students raised concerns about JEE and NEET examinations’ schedule in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

“Looking at the prevailing circumstances and requests received from students & parents appearing for JEE and NEEET examinations, a committee consisting of officials from the National Testing Agency (NTA) and other experts has been advised to review the situation and submit its recommendations latest by tomorrow,” Pokhriyal had said.

The exams have been postponed twice amid Corona crisis. NEET was scheduled to held on July 26 while the JEE (Mains) was scheduled from July 18-23 earlier.
