In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Uttarakhand Government has changed the role and responsibilities of 16 IAS officers and five PCS officers.

Amit Singh Negi, the 1999-batch Uttarakhand cadre IAS officer will hold the post of secretary, medical education and medical health and family welfare, Government of Uttarakhand. The decision has been undertaken as the State is trying to come to term with the Corona crisis. Currently, he was holding posts of secretary, disaster management, planning, EAP, programme director PMU and project director UEAPU, DRP.


Other officers who have been given new responsibilities include Additional chief secretary Om Prakash, principal secretary Anand Bardhan, IT and Science and Technology secretary RK Sudhanshu, and Home secretary Nitesh Jha.

Prakash has been relieved of the Public Works Department and chairmanship of Bridge, Ropeways, Tunnel and other Infrastructure Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (BRIDCUL) while his other departments have remained unchanged. Planning and externally aided projects (EAP) have been added to principal secretary Anand Bardhan’s responsibilities. Sudhanshu has been made secretary of PWD, State Estates and BRIDCUL chairman. In addition, Home secretary Nitesh Jha has been relieved of medical education, medical health and family welfare and made secretary of irrigation, minor irrigation and potable water along with his other existing responsibilities.
