To enhance the standards of millions of pharmacists in the country, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has urged the Health Ministry to amend the Pharmacy Act to make CEP (continuing education programme) mandatory for registration and subsequent renewal under the Pharmacy Act. The PCI has also asked the ministry for a grant of INR 100 crore through Planning Commission for CEPs and up-gradation and strengthening of pharmacy institutions in the country.This will place India among the 30 countries in the world where CEP is mandatory.
