Hyderabad, Telangana: Building on the strong momentum of Day 1, India Pharma Expo & Summit 2026, being held alongside the NextGen Pharma Summit & Awards at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad, continued into Day 2 with deeper deliberations on innovation, investment, and strengthening India’s global pharmaceutical leadership. The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and innovators to drive conversations around the next phase of growth in the life sciences sector.
The day began with an inaugural address by Dr. Ravi Gupta, Founder & CEO, Elets Technomedia and Editor-in-Chief, eHealth Magazine, who stated, “India Pharma Expo & Summit 2026 is our continued effort to drive transformation and shape the future of this sector.” He reflected on Elets’ journey since 2005 in bridging industry, academia, and policy, and emphasised the importance of collaborative platforms in accelerating innovation. Adding to this, Sarvesh Singh, Director & CEO, Telangana Lifesciences, Government of Telangana, remarked, “Hyderabad is not just a pharma hub, it is a driving force behind the world’s healthcare ecosystem,” highlighting the state’s global leadership in vaccines, APIs, and pharmaceutical exports.
The summit featured impactful spotlight addresses, including insights from Dr. Anand Govindaluri, who emphasised that stronger support for entrepreneurship is critical to driving innovation, noting that government initiatives alone are not sufficient. Dr. Y. Sridhar Reddy, Honourable Secretary, Industry Pharmacy Division, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, stressed the importance of building high-quality, unified data ecosystems to enhance the accuracy and scalability of AI-driven solutions in pharma.
A key highlight of Day 2 was Panel Discussion 1: Pharma Supply Chain Operations: APIs, Clinical Trials & Quality Compliance in a Changing Global Landscape, where industry leaders shared practical insights. Amol Vyavahare, Assistant Vice President, Aurobindo Pharma Ltd., emphasised, “The drug development phase must be robust in design, or it risks creating inconsistencies at the site level,” underlining the importance of strong foundational processes. Annapurna Kaja, Group Head – Supply Chain Management, Cancer Centers of America, noted that supply chains have evolved significantly through the integration of technology and analytics, improving efficiency and resilience. Meanwhile, Venkatanarayan V., Ex-Vice President & Specialist – Digital & OE, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, highlighted, “Digitalisation should not be a badge, but a need-driven choice that delivers real transformation,” urging organisations to adopt technology with clear strategic intent.
The day also featured a series of high-impact discussions covering critical industry themes, including Pharmacovigilance & Drug Safety in Global Markets, India’s Expanding CDMO & CRO Ecosystem, Drug Discovery & R&D and Global Regulatory Pathways, and Peptides & Next-Generation Therapeutics. These sessions underscored India’s growing capabilities across the pharmaceutical value chain, from research and development to manufacturing and global distribution.
A special highlight of the day was the NextGen Pharma Awards Ceremony, held in the gracious presence of the Guest of Honour, Shri C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, Hon’ble Minister, Department of Health, Medical & Family Welfare, Government of Telangana. Addressing the gathering, he stated, “Telangana is emerging as India’s most dynamic pharma and healthcare hub.”

Highlighting the state’s strong healthcare infrastructure, including medical colleges, hospitals, and nearly 40,000 hospital beds, he reiterated the government’s commitment to both citizen welfare and industry growth. He also underlined the state’s proactive policies, including land allocation, infrastructure development, road connectivity, and subsidised power, which continue to create a robust and enabling ecosystem for the sector.
