The national capital is all set to get three new hospitals with 2800 bed capacity in the course of next six month, said a report submitted by the State’s Health Minister Satyendar Jain to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The Status report highlights a series of measures in terms of infrastructure the Aam Aadmi Party led Delhi Government will be taking up to boost public healthcare delivery system.

The name of these hospitals are 1,241-bed Indira Gandhi Hospital (IGH) in Dwarka, 600-bedfacility at Ambedkar Nagar in south Delhi, and a 772-bed hospital in Burari, northwest Delhi. “The target date of completion is March 21, 2020,” officials said.

The Delhi government will be adding nearly 14,000 beds in public hospitals in the city by 2023 and 400 mohalla clinics by December this year, said the report.

“The expansion of public health infrastructure in Delhi is unprecedented. It is the largest program for improving access to healthcare anywhere in the world. The total increase in capacity that is currently underway in terms of bed capacity is more than 122%. But this is not just about the number of beds, but also about the quality of facilities provided,” Kejriwal was quoted as saying by MINT.

In addition to the existing capacity of 11,353 beds in 38 Delhi government hospitals, another 13,899 beds will be added, said report. The Government expects all projects to be completed by 2023.
