Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has announced the acquisition of Oriflame India’s manufacturing business for ₹56 crore, marking its strategic entry into the rapidly growing colour cosmetics segment. The transaction includes two manufacturing facilities located in Roorkee and Noida, along with a leased warehouse in Noida, and is expected to be completed by August 31, 2026.

The acquisition represents a significant diversification move for Akums, one of India’s leading Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisations (CDMOs). Known for its expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing, the company is now expanding its capabilities into beauty and personal care as it seeks to leverage India’s fast-growing cosmetics industry.

India’s beauty and personal care market is currently valued at nearly $20 billion and is projected to almost double over the next decade, driven by rising consumer demand, premiumisation, and increasing export opportunities. By acquiring Oriflame India’s manufacturing assets, Akums aims to establish a strong presence in the colour cosmetics segment while utilising its manufacturing expertise, quality standards, and operational efficiencies.

The acquisition also strengthens Akums’ long-term growth strategy by diversifying its product portfolio beyond pharmaceuticals and positioning the company to capitalise on opportunities in the broader FMCG and personal care sectors.

Founded by Sanjeev Jain and Sandeep Jain, Akums has grown into one of India’s largest CDMOs, serving domestic and international markets. The latest acquisition reflects the company’s focus on building a diversified manufacturing platform that combines healthcare, wellness, and beauty under one integrated business model.
