The Delhi Cabinet has approved the inclusion of widows and persons with disabilities receiving government financial assistance under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).
As per the decision, nearly 3.97 lakh widows and around 1.31 lakh persons with disabilities in the national capital will be covered under the scheme. Eligible beneficiaries, along with their families, will be entitled to cashless healthcare services at empanelled public and private hospitals.
The expansion enables these beneficiaries to access secondary and tertiary hospitalisation services under Ayushman Bharat. Ayushman cards will be issued to eligible individuals, allowing treatment across the authorised hospital network under the programme.
PM-JAY provides health insurance coverage for hospitalisation expenses, reducing direct out-of-pocket expenditure for beneficiaries requiring medical treatment.
With this approval, Delhi has expanded the beneficiary base under Ayushman Bharat, extending health coverage to additional vulnerable groups through the existing healthcare delivery and hospital empanelment framework.
