Rural Nutraceuticals

India’s nutraceutical sector is undergoing a remarkable transformation, mirroring the trajectory once seen in the United States during its early-2000s wellness boom. Now valued at USD 18 billion and expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.5%, the Indian nutraceutical industry is preparing for a quantum leap, bolstered by progressive policy support, strategic collaborations, and a growing emphasis on responsible nutrition.

According to an Invest India report, the sector is well on track to evolve into a USD 100 billion industry by 2047, seamlessly integrating into the broader USD 3 trillion food and nutrition supply chain. This momentum is further driven by national initiatives like Project One Future, which are aligning key stakeholders,  from rural entrepreneurs to global corporations, under a unified vision for nutrition-centric healthcare.

“India is no longer just a manufacturing base — it is emerging as the mind and soul of the global nutraceutical ecosystem,” remarked Dr. Anand Swaroop, President of Cepham USA.

One of the most defining moments in this transformation came with the landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between India Chambers and the Rural Economic Forum introduced by Dr. Nitin Pangotra, Advisor to the MSME Ministry at the SumFlex 2025 summit. The MoU was aimed at integrating rural nutraceutical enterprises directly into global value chains, from farm-level sourcing to finished product packaging.

This initiative seeks to unlock the untapped innovation potential of India’s rural and micro-enterprise sectors and position them within global wellness markets, furthering India’s commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable business models.

Tech-Enabled Transparency and Strategic Collaborations

In a bold move towards transparency and clinical validation, the industry also witnessed the launch of Rx.NutrifyToday.com — the world’s first medical reference platform dedicated to helping healthcare professionals verify nutraceutical claims. This marks a significant step in bridging the gap between nutraceutical innovation and clinical practice.

In addition, industry giants Dr. Reddy’s and Nestlé Health Science unveiled Celevida Diafiber, a targeted nutritional solution catering to diabetic needs, highlighting how public-private collaboration is driving innovation at scale. Another major announcement was the debut of Dealsphere, an instant commerce engine focused on licensing and commercial partnerships across the nutraceutical ecosystem.

“What we witnessed at SumFlex 2025 was not an industry event — it was a declaration of purpose. We are not scaling for vanity; we are building a future where responsible nutrition becomes a global right. This is karma in action,” said Amit Srivastava, Founder, Nutrify Today.

India’s nutraceutical journey is no longer driven by ambition alone — it is now powered by intentional, ecosystem-led development. From rural innovators to regulatory bodies and global enterprises, every stakeholder is playing a role in shaping a legacy of responsible nutrition.
