In a significant boost to cancer care in Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the newly expanded HCG Aastha Cancer Centre in Ahmedabad. Located opposite Bhagwat Vidyapith in Sola, this upgraded facility is now the largest private comprehensive cancer care centre in the state.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of senior HCG leadership, including Dr. B.S. Ajaikumar, Executive Chairman, Healthcare Global Enterprises Limited (HCG); Raj Gore, CEO; Dr. Bharat Gadhavi, Regional Director for Gujarat and Rajasthan; and Sudharshan Bhamare, COO of HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad.
With a 140% increase in bed capacity, the centre now offers 217 beds — including 23 surgical ICU beds, 10 medical ICU beds, 23 daycare beds, 16 pre- and post-operative beds, and 6 Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) units. This substantial expansion is projected to support a 30–40% rise in patient footfall, catering to over 55,000 outpatient visits and 9,000 inpatient admissions each year.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said,
“The launch of the HCG Aastha Cancer Centre in Ahmedabad is a significant step forward in making advanced cancer care more accessible. With its cutting-edge technology, the hospital provides excellent cancer treatment. The expertise of the hospital’s highly experienced and dedicated team will significantly benefit the patients. I also applaud HCG for setting up a trust to support needy patients.”
Dr. B.S. Ajaikumar, Executive Chairman, HCG, emphasised HCG’s mission of democratizing quality cancer care, stating,

The newly launched facility incorporates advanced technologies such as Gujarat’s first Tomo Therapy unit, robotic surgery systems for gastrointestinal, urological, and gynaecological cancers, and scalp cooling therapy to minimise chemotherapy-related hair loss, marking another first in the region.
Beyond medical treatment, the centre offers an expanded suite of patient support services including genetic counselling, international patient services, home and palliative care, and peer-support programs through the HCG Foundation and Ahmedabad Cancer Foundation.
With this landmark expansion, HCG Aastha Cancer Centre in Ahmedabad not only scales up its clinical capabilities but also redefines oncology care through a compassionate, precision-driven approach, setting a new benchmark for integrated cancer treatment in Gujarat and beyond.
