In a strategic move to strengthen its clinical leadership, Yashoda Medicity has appointed renowned obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr. J.B. Sharma as the Head of its Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. A globally respected clinician and academic, Dr. Sharma brings with him over 40 years of groundbreaking contributions to women’s health, both in India and abroad.

Recognised among the top 2 percent of doctors worldwide by Stanford University, Dr. Sharma’s addition to Yashoda Medicity signals a strong commitment to elevating specialised care in obstetrics and gynaecology. His expansive career includes a long-standing tenure as Professor and Unit Head at AIIMS, New Delhi, and international experience across prominent UK institutions such as St. Bartholomew’s, Homerton, and Whipps Cross Hospitals.

Dr. Sharma is a prolific academician, with over 450 publications to his credit—many of them in leading international journals, including The Lancet. He has also contributed to several large-scale research initiatives with institutions like Oxford University, ICMR, DST, and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. His distinguished recognitions include the Dr. B.C. Roy Award, ICMR awards, and honours from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

He is the author of widely referenced medical textbooks in obstetrics, gynaecology, and midwifery, and serves as Editor-in-Chief of both Indian Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Journal of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology. His clinical innovations include the discovery of Sharma’s signs in genital tuberculosis and the development of surgical instruments and manoeuvres bearing his name.
