Akums

Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Limited, a frontrunner in India’s pharmaceutical manufacturing sector, is taking a significant leap towards sustainability with the installation of a 600 kWp on-grid rooftop solar power plant at its warehouse facility in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. This initiative underscores the company’s dedication to green energy and its long-term commitment to reducing environmental impact.

The newly installed solar power plant spans 56,000 square feet and is projected to generate over 7.5 lakh units of solar energy annually, leveraging optimal sunlight exposure for five hours daily. By integrating this renewable energy source, Akums is set to reduce its electricity consumption significantly, leading to substantial cost savings while promoting eco-friendly operations.

A Sustainable Leap Forward

Akums’ shift towards solar energy is a crucial step in minimizing reliance on conventional energy sources. The environmental benefits of this project are substantial—equivalent to conserving over 10,000 trees annually. By adopting clean energy solutions, the company is reinforcing its role as a responsible corporate entity committed to reducing its carbon footprint.

At the inauguration event, Sandeep Jain, Managing Director and Founder of Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Limited, highlighted the importance of this initiative in achieving the company’s sustainability goals. “The successful commissioning of our rooftop solar power plant is a significant step towards our path to sustainability. This project will assist in lowering energy expenses, reducing our carbon footprint, and promoting a greener tomorrow. Akums continues to be committed to embracing green practices in our operations and helping India achieve its sustainability objectives.”

Sustainability is at the core of Akums’ operations. As India’s largest Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), Akums has consistently integrated innovation with environmental consciousness.
