Ayushman Vay Vandana Cards

In a remarkable milestone, the enrollment for the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card has reached 25 lakh in less than two months since its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 29, 2024. The initiative, part of the expanded Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), aims to provide healthcare access to senior citizens aged 70 and above.

Since its inception, the program has facilitated treatments worth over ₹40 crore, benefiting more than 22,000 senior citizens. The beneficiaries have received medical care for a range of critical conditions, including coronary angioplasty, hip replacement, gall bladder removal, cataract surgery, stroke, hemodialysis, prostate resection, and other acute and chronic illnesses.


Key Features of the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card

The Ayushman Vay Vandana Card offers ₹5 lakh in free annual health coverage to all senior citizens aged 70 and above, irrespective of their socio-economic background. Families already covered under AB PM-JAY receive an additional top-up of ₹5 lakh for senior members.

Eligible beneficiaries include:


  • Individuals availing benefits under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), or Ayushman Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
  • Those covered by private health insurance or Employees’ State Insurance (ESI).

Recipients can choose between their existing schemes or opt for AB PM-JAY benefits.

The scheme provides access to approximately 2,000 medical procedures, covering pre-existing conditions from day one without any waiting period.

Eligible citizens can register for the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card through various convenient channels:

  1. Empanelled Hospitals: Visit the nearest empanelled hospital for registration.
  2. Online Registration: Use the Ayushman app (available on Google Play Store) or visit the official website at www.beneficiary.nha.gov.in.
  3. Toll-Free Numbers: Call 14555 or give a missed call to 1800110770 for assistance and information.
