One Health

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s ‘One Health’ Pavilion at the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan has become a focal point for education, health services, and public engagement. Inaugurated by Dr. V.K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, the pavilion showcases the government’s commitment to advancing preventive, promotive, and curative healthcare under the unifying theme of “One Health.”

A Comprehensive Healthcare Experience

The pavilion is a vibrant hub offering a range of free health services for children and adults. For children, screenings under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) include checks for height, weight, BMI, and dental, eye, and ear health. Adults can access free hemoglobin, blood pressure, and blood sugar screenings, along with personalized dietary and mental health counseling.

The Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) stall has introduced visitors to the recently launched U-WIN digital platform, a user-friendly tool for managing vaccination appointments, e-certificates, and reminders. Over 150 U-WIN app downloads have been facilitated, with parents finding the platform highly convenient. A pocket calendar outlining the National Immunization Schedule is also being distributed.

The National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) stall has provided health checks such as BMI, BP, and sugar tests, alongside pledges for organ donation.

The ‘One Health’ Approach

‘One Health’ is a holistic framework that addresses the interconnected health of humans, animals, and the environment. It acknowledges the intricate links between wildlife, livestock, plants, and human populations, particularly in a biodiverse country like India. This integrated approach is crucial for tackling zoonotic diseases, livestock illnesses, and environmental health challenges.

Recent health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, outbreaks of lumpy skin disease, and avian influenza underscore the importance of this approach. The pavilion embodies the ‘One Health’ philosophy, aiming to build agile response systems while promoting awareness about coexistence and mutual well-being.

The ‘One Health’ Pavilion at IITF 2024 highlights the Union Health Ministry’s dedication to making health services accessible, fostering awareness, and inspiring healthier lifestyles for all. It is a testament to the government’s mission of achieving ‘Health and Wellness for All.’
