Theranautilus

Theranautilus, a cutting-edge deep-tech startup specializing in nanorobotic solutions for healthcare, has announced raising $1.2 million in a seed funding round. The investment was led by pi Ventures, with contributions from Golden Sparrow Ventures and angel investors, including Abhishek Goyal (Founder & CEO, Tracxn) and Lalit Keshre (CEO, Groww).

Founded in 2020 at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Theranautilus aims to become the world’s first company to commercialize nanorobotics-based medical devices, starting with dental care. The funding will accelerate the clinical development of its innovative solutions, focusing on transforming the treatment of dental hypersensitivity and introducing nanorobotics for broader healthcare applications.

Theranautilus’s groundbreaking approach to dental care leverages precision-manufactured nanorobots that deliver biocompatible materials directly to affected dental tissues. Unlike traditional solutions, this method offers lasting relief through a minimally invasive, 10-minute procedure. With an estimated 2 billion people globally suffering from dental hypersensitivity—representing a $6 billion market—the company’s technology has the potential to redefine dental treatments.

Dr. Shanmukh Srinivas, Co-Founder and CEO of Theranautilus, remarked, “This funding marks a significant milestone in our journey. Our technology enables healthcare at a microscopic level with unparalleled precision. By starting with dental care, we are laying the groundwork for a paradigm shift in medical treatment. We envision a future where nanorobots navigate the human body to perform highly targeted therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.”

The funding will also support Theranautilus in advancing its go-to-market strategy and exploring the application of its adaptable nanotechnology platform in cancer therapy and other diseases. Backed by international patents, the company plans to commence the world’s first human trials for a nanorobotic medical device in 2025.

Sohil Bhagat, Principal at pi Ventures, shared his optimism about the partnership, saying, “Theranautilus is poised to transform innovative science into scalable healthcare solutions. Their nanorobotic technology not only has the potential to revolutionize the dental industry but also paves the way for minimally invasive treatments across various medical sectors. We are thrilled to support them in reshaping the future of healthcare.”

Theranautilus is actively engaging with global healthcare corporations, dental providers, and medical institutions to expand the reach of its nanorobotic solutions. By combining cutting-edge science with practical healthcare applications, the company is well-positioned to make advanced treatments accessible to patients worldwide.

This breakthrough aligns with India’s emergence as a hub for disruptive healthcare innovations, highlighting the country’s growing influence on the global medical technology landscape.
