Star Arogya Digi Seva

In a significant move towards improving healthcare access in rural India, Star Health Insurance, a prominent standalone health insurance provider, has unveiled its latest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, ‘Star Arogya Digi Seva’. Developed in partnership with the Center for Chronic Disease and Control (CCDC), the program seeks to bridge healthcare gaps in underserved rural communities by combining cutting-edge telemedicine technology with Mobile Health Units (MHUs).

Focusing initially on five aspirational districts in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, the initiative will span across 74 villages in 10 districts, delivering essential healthcare services directly to these areas. The program emphasizes the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and hypertension, while also conducting awareness campaigns on preventive health and iron nutrition.

Anand Roy, MD & CEO of Star Health Insurance, highlighted the transformative potential of the initiative, stating, “Star Arogya Digi Seva is more than just a CSR project — it is a commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or circumstances. By combining technology with on-the-ground services, we are creating a healthcare model that empowers communities, prevents diseases, and transforms lives.”

The program adopts a patient-centric approach, leveraging telemedicine for remote consultations and MHUs for comprehensive physical examinations, diagnostic services, immediate care, and follow-ups. This integration of technology and on-the-ground service aims to ensure that even the most remote areas have access to quality healthcare.

Initially, the program will prioritize Tamil Nadu districts, including Ramanathapuram, Manapparai, and Chennai, with plans to expand to other areas. By doing so, Star Health Insurance aligns itself with IRDAI’s mission of ‘Insurance for All’, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of health insurance coverage in rural India.

The launch of ‘Star Arogya Digi Seva’ reinforces Star Health Insurance’s commitment to preventive healthcare and wellness, setting a benchmark in CSR initiatives focused on healthcare transformation.
