Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the link between national progress and citizen health, announcing the central government’s five foundational pillars of health policy at the inauguration of health projects at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Delhi. Marking Dhanteras and Ayurveda Diwas, PM Modi conveyed his festive greetings to the nation and highlighted the cultural significance of health and well-being, rooted in the ancient adage Arogyam Paramam Bhagyam (Health is the greatest wealth).

In his address, PM Modi introduced the health policy pillars:

  • Preventive Healthcare,
  • Timely Diagnosis,

  • Accessible Healthcare for rural areas, and
  • Technology Expansion in Healthcare.

He reiterated that these pillars aim to provide holistic and accessible healthcare to all citizens, especially in underserved regions, and integrate advanced technology to enhance healthcare reach.

Highlighting the benefits of Ayushman Bharat, the Prime Minister noted, “Our government has committed to covering medical expenses up to Rs 5 lakh for the poor. Today, around 4 crore citizens have benefited from this scheme, allowing families to access treatment without financial distress.” PM Modi also announced the extension of Ayushman Bharat to seniors above 70, fulfilling a promise to ease healthcare access for the elderly.
