In a significant move to bolster the welfare of women and children across India, Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi, chaired her inaugural national-level meeting with the Ministers of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare from various States, as well as Administrators and Lieutenant Governors from Union Territories. The meeting, held via video conferencing on 10th August 2024, saw participation from 21 State Ministers, marking a critical step in fostering greater cooperation between the Centre and State Governments.
During the meeting, Smt. Annpurna Devi emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts between the Central and State Governments to ensure that the benefits of key initiatives reach the grassroots level. She highlighted the Ministry’s flagship programs under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya, and Mission Shakti as pivotal in achieving this goal.
“Our goal is to ensure that the fruits of our endeavors reach every corner of the nation, which requires us to work hand in hand with the States. This collaboration is crucial not only for the development of the States but also for the overall progress of our country, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’,” said Smt. Annpurna Devi.
The Union Minister urged the State Ministers and Administrators to actively engage with the Central Government to enhance the implementation of these Missions. She stressed that such cooperation is essential for realizing the vision of a developed India and ensuring the well-being of women and children across the country.

State Ministers present at the meeting shared insights into the specific initiatives being undertaken in their regions to empower women and ensure the well-being of children. They appreciated the direct engagement from the Union Minister, noting that this would provide additional momentum to the implementation of the three key Missions and complement their ongoing efforts. The Union Minister assured the participants of regular engagements at her level to maintain this collaborative momentum.
