The Academy of Digital Health Sciences, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management Raipur, celebrated the graduation of its first cohort from the Post-Graduate Certificate Program in Digital Health on July 20, 2024. A total of 41 students graduated from this globally delivered online course, taught by leading experts in the field of Digital Health.
The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller General of India, Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. Dr. Raghuvanshi emphasized the transformative potential of Digital Health, stating, “India produces some of the best professionals in healthcare and IT, yet there is a critical need for expertise that bridges both fields. Digital Health is that bridge.” He further highlighted the disparity in healthcare access between rural and urban areas, underscoring Digital Health as a key solution to this divide.

Graduates of this program are now recognized as Certified Digital Health Professionals® (CDHP), equipped with knowledge spanning theoretical, technological, management, and application aspects of digital tools in healthcare. This pioneering program, unique in its comprehensive approach, was founded by Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, Chairman of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum’s Dynamic Coalition on Digital Health. Dr. Gupta, a former advisor to the Union Health Minister and member of the National Education Policy, addressed the graduates, urging them to blend innovation with empathy, and access with affordability. He asserted, “Digital Health is set to revolutionize healthcare delivery across the continuum of care.”

Dr. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director of IIM Raipur, highlighted the establishment of the Centre for Health, Innovation, Policy & Digital Health, a joint initiative with the Academy of Digital Health Sciences. This center aims to position India as a global leader in Digital Health through capacity building, innovation, and policy development.

India’s commitment to integrating technology in healthcare is evidenced by the success of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which has generated over 65 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts, and the eSanjeevani telemedicine program, which has facilitated over 20 crore tele-consultations. With leaders trained from this program, India is on track to become the world’s first fully digitalized healthcare system, spearheading healthcare innovation on a global scale.
