Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week

In a groundbreaking move during Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week (ADGHW), the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has joined forces with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and Core42 to inaugurate the Global AI Healthcare Academy in the emirate.

The strategic partnership, solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to spearheading technology-driven healthcare solutions. By harnessing the expertise of MBZUAI and Core42, the initiative aims to fortify Abu Dhabi’s position as a global leader in healthcare innovation.


The Global AI Healthcare Academy is poised to revolutionize healthcare by nurturing an AI-trained workforce capable of revolutionizing diagnostic and operational efficiency. This collaboration emphasizes the pivotal role of AI in augmenting patient care and streamlining healthcare processes.

Under the auspices of His Excellency Mansoor Al Mansoori, Chairman of DoH, and Her Excellency Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, the MoU was ceremoniously signed. Dr. Rashed Obaid Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Healthcare Workforce Planning Sector at DoH; Sultan Al Hajji, Vice President of Public Affairs and Alumni Relations at MBZUAI; and Talal AlKaissi, Executive Vice President, Chief Product, and Global Partnership Officer at Core42, represented their respective organizations in this milestone agreement.


Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, highlighted the transformative potential of AI in healthcare, stating, “Empowering our workforce with the latest AI technologies is vital to achieve the milestones we hope for in diagnostics and personalized medical management.”

The collaboration will offer tailored courses aimed at advancing AI in various healthcare domains, including radiology, cardiology, and data analytics. Furthermore, the Academy will conduct mass training sessions to accommodate up to 100 attendees, empowering healthcare professionals with cutting-edge skills and knowledge.

Sultan Al Hajji, Vice President of Public Affairs and Alumni Relations at MBZUAI, emphasized the institute’s commitment to advancing healthcare through AI, stating, “We are proud to partner with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi in launching the new AI Healthcare Academy.”

This initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s ambition to become a global hub for AI and a center for life sciences. By fostering collaboration and innovation, the Global AI Healthcare Academy aims to accelerate the pace of medical breakthroughs and improve healthcare outcomes for communities worldwide.
