The Hans Foundation

In a remarkable endeavor to combat Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) among underprivileged children, The Hans Foundation (THF) and Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust have joined forces to provide cost-free heart surgeries to 300 children over the forthcoming year. This significant collaboration was announced recently, promising hope and healing to countless families grappling with the burdensome expenses of pediatric cardiac care.

Under the esteemed guidance of Mr. Sunil Gavaskar, the celebrated cricketer and trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust, this initiative marks a new chapter in his philanthropic journey, dedicated to championing the cause of CHD.

The Little Hearts Program, spearheaded by THF, has been at the forefront of addressing CHD-related challenges since its inception in 2013. Through strategic partnerships with leading hospitals across India, the program has facilitated over 3000 successful surgeries to date. With an ambitious goal to extend support to 4500 children this year, THF aims to significantly impact the landscape of pediatric cardiac care in the country.

The collaboration between THF and Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust will see more than 300 children receiving essential medical interventions at the esteemed Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals located in Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Maharashtra. These hospitals, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, have a commendable track record of providing comprehensive healthcare services, having served over 250,000 outpatients and performed more than 29,600 pediatric cardiac surgeries since 2012.

CHD remains a significant cause of mortality and morbidity among children worldwide, with India bearing a substantial burden despite the availability of suitable treatment. Financial constraints often deter families, particularly from rural and underprivileged backgrounds, from accessing lifesaving surgeries.

Speaking about the program, Mr. Sandeep J. Kapur, CEO of THF, emphasized the initiative’s commitment to providing hope and support to underprivileged families. From early diagnosis to post-surgery care, the Little Hearts Program ensures comprehensive medical and financial assistance to families in need.

Moreover, Mr. Kapur outlined THF’s plans to expand its initiatives under the Hans Pediatric Care umbrella, encompassing a range of healthcare interventions aimed at holistic child development.

The Hans Foundation, established in 2009, is renowned for its efforts in empowering marginalized communities and enhancing their quality of life. Similarly, the Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust, founded in 1970, has been instrumental in providing free healthcare services to millions, regardless of caste, religion, or financial status.

This collaborative effort between two esteemed organizations underscores their shared commitment to alleviating the burden of CHD and ensuring that every child receives the care they deserve. As they embark on this noble journey, they pave the way for a healthier and more equitable future for India’s most vulnerable populations.
