Over 5 crore ABHA accounts created in India’s Ayushman Bhav Campaign

In an unprecedented achievement, the Ayushman Bhav campaign in India has reached a new pinnacle with the creation of more than 5 crore ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) accounts as of 28th December 2023. This campaign has also seen the generation of 4.45 crore Ayushman cards and the organisation of 1.16 lakh Ayushman Sabha, underscoring its extensive reach and impact.
A central feature of the campaign has been the Ayushman Arogya Mandir Melas, which alone accounted for 13.49 lakh of the total 13.84 lakh health melas conducted. These melas attracted nearly 9.77 crore visitors. Highlights of these melas include 9.22 lakh sessions of wellness activities like yoga and meditation, over 1 crore teleconsultations, and the distribution of free medication to 6.42 crore individuals. Moreover, free diagnostic services were provided to 5.1 crore people, while Ayush services benefitted 74 lakh individuals. An impressive 11 crore people received counselling on lifestyle choices. Additionally, maternal and child health services were a significant focus, with over 45 lakh pregnant women registering for early care and around 30 lakh mothers and 50 lakh children receiving immunizations. Comprehensive screening programs for various health conditions reached nearly 19 crore people.
Meanwhile, the Community Health Centre (CHC) Melas, a subset of the health melas, registered 1.54 crore people across 37,664 melas. General and specialist outpatient services were availed by over 1.6 crore patients, and nearly 1.7 lakh surgeries, both major and minor, were conducted.
These impressive figures reflect the campaign’s success in bringing health services to the masses and underline the government’s commitment to improving public health infrastructure and access across India.
