HealthNet Global (HNG) has successfully launched the design, development, and deployment of their groundbreaking Connected ICU solution (e-ICU) at the well-known Little Stars & She Women and Children Hospital in Hyderabad. This innovative e-ICU concept connects remotely located ICUs (Spokes) with a regional command center (Hub), ushering in a new era of critical care delivery. HNG has not only established a regional command center but has also enabled a remote hospital as a spokes, exemplifying their commitment to advancing healthcare through technology.

Emerging as a trailblazer, the technology ensures high-quality care through seamless connectivity and real-time data access. Moreover, intensivists (who specialize in the care of ICU patients) can also provide remote care, ensuring timely interventions and improved patient outcomes.

Vikram Thaploo, CEO of Apollo Telehealth and HealthNet Global, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are proud to introduce the Connected ICU solution or e-ICU to pediatric ICUs as well, a testament to our commitment to revolutionizing healthcare through cutting-edge technology. This innovative platform will significantly improve critical care delivery, benefiting pediatric patients and healthcare providers alike. It will enable intensivists to efficiently manage critical patients in ICUs around the clock and will overcome the challenges posed by the limited availability of such specialists. We have leveraged state-of-the-art telemedicine technology which includes two-way audio-visual communication and equipment data interface. The best part of e-ICU will remain that it will timely alert care providers in emergency situations.”

Dr Sai Praveen Haranath, Medical Director, Apollo eACCESS TeleICU Service & Sr. Consultant Pulmonologist and Critical Care Specialist at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, praised the solution and said, “The HNG’s new innovation is incredible to boost optimal care to critically ill patients. It will revolutionize our ability as an intensivist to serve patients more effectively. The e-ICU will not only help us with rapid turnaround time but also eliminate geographical barriers through remote collaboration.”

Furthermore, this innovative solution for ICU patients developed by HNG will also enhance the efficiency of critical care management along with increased knowledge sharing among healthcare professionals across connected hospitals.

Speaking about the adoption of this advanced Connected ICU solution, Dr Satish Ghanta, Director, of Little Stars & She Women and Children Hospital, stated, “The Connected ICU solution will certainly bring a paradigm shift in critical care. The impact of it can be witnessed right from the initial use of this solution by connecting the Hub Command Center to remote areas in rural Telangana through Mobile Spokes promoting pediatric virtual/rural ICU for the first time, preventing death. This will in turn increase the number of virtual ICU beds in the rural community which is the need of the hour. The most common cause of death in children under 5 years of age remains acute respiratory illness & acute gastroenteritis. We could reduce mortality & morbidity through online Preventive ICU advice. It has empowered our team to deliver superior care and enabled us to tap into the expertise of renowned intensivists available remotely, enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services.”
