The Union Territory of Chandigarh has won the best-performing state award at a two-day National Conference held in New Delhi on the occasion of the completion of four years of the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY Scheme and one year of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) on 25th and 26th September, 2022.

“The awards are a result of combined efforts of the Health Facilities of Chandigarh Administration, PGIMER and the Health Facilities in the Private Sector in UT Chandigarh. The Chandigarh Administration has decided to implement the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission in a big way. Shri Dharampal, IAS, Adviser to Administrator is regularly monitoring its progress. Though Chandigarh has got the two awards yet there is a huge scope to improve and lot more is yet to be done in this direction. We are in the process of procurement of computer hardware and other equipment and networking in all the Health & Wellness Centers, GMCH-32 and GMSH-16. All these Health Facilities have been interlinked through WAN and efforts are being made to use/popularize e-Sanjivini/Tele-medicine to provide better health care at the HWCs and reduce the rush at the big hospitals.” a health officials told the media.

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is a flagship scheme launched by the Government of India. It is a step in the right direction to revolutionize and metamorphosis Indian Healthcare. It aims to develop the backbone necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country. It will bridge the existing gap amongst different stakeholders of the Healthcare ecosystem through digital highways. Based on the principles of health for all, inclusivity, accessibility, affordability, education, empowerment, wellness, portability, privacy, and security by design, the NDHM will act as the backbone necessary to create an integrated digital health infrastructure. It is expected to have a far-reaching implication as an ambitious and humongous task of building state-of-the-art digital infrastructure in healthcare is initiated.
