National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2022 Exam has been postponed when the topic was up for hearing in the Supreme Court today. The exam postponement has been announced by the Union Health Ministry and official orders have also been released. Earlier, the exam was slated to be held on March 12, 2022. However, with the ongoing demands of exam postponement, the Union Health Ministry has decided to shelve the exam date by 6-8 weeks and accepted the demands of all students. As per the officials, the decision has been taken after witnessing the prevailing situations related to NEET PG examinations 2022. Also, it is clashing with the NEET PG 2021 counselling.
Earlier a petition was filed on January 25 in the Supreme Court seeking postponement of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). As per reports, 6 MBBS students approached the apex court as many requirements, like a mandatory internship, etc, were not fulfilled by many candidates. It had also claimed that medical graduates would not be able to take up the examination due to non-completion of the mandatory internship period, thus the deadline of the fulfilment of the internship should be extended from May 31.
February 4, 2022, was also the last date of exam registration for the exam. But, with this announcement, the deadline is likely to be extended or changed.
The Supreme Court would be hearing the matter on February 8, 2022 – Tuesday at 2 pm. The petitioners have pointed out that the Union Health Ministry’s delay of 8 weeks is not sufficient and have sought resolution regarding the gap in the internship completion and the examination dates so as to make the students eligible for the examination.
