In a bid to ramp up vaccination against Covid-19 in the country, ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign will be launched today by the central government. To be spread over a month, the mega vaccination campaign will look to immunize the complete population in poor-performing districts.
Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya during the national review meeting with Health Ministers of various States last week had stated that adequate vaccine doses were available in the country, and more than 12 crore balance unutilised doses are available with the States for administering. “No district should be without full vaccination. Let us aim to cover all eligible with 1st dose of COVID-19 vaccine by end-November 2021,” the minister had said.
During the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign, healthcare workers will go door-to-door to vaccinate people eligible for the second dose and also those who have not taken the first dose. The minister had also urged people eligible to receive the second dose of vaccination to get it administered as soon as possible. He had shared that 10.34 crore people in the country have not taken the second dose after the prescribed interval.
