
The Government of Gujarat on Tuesday ordered for extending the night curfew, which is in force in the state’s eight cities owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, until September 25, 2021. Presently, the curfew is enforced from 11 PM to 6 AM in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, and Jamnagar.
The state government has said in an order that it has taken the decision of extending the night curfew till 25 September after reviewing the current situation. It also said that all other restrictions enforced in the last order issued on 29 July 2021 will be in place till 25 September 2021. This includes allowing eateries to operate till 10 PM and restricting the count of people at public functions to 400. The last order had also permitted Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in public places with the idol’s height to remain a maximum of nine feet.

The state had registered 12 new Covid-19 cases and zero deaths on Monday. In a related development, India logged 25,404 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The country’s active cases account for 1.09% of the total cases and the active caseload is 3,62,207. India’s recovery rate is 97.58% as it recorded 37,127 recoveries during the same period, with the total recoveries reaching 3,24,84,159.
