Covid-19 Vaccination Coverage Surpasses

The country has administered 61,90,930 vaccine doses and its Covid-19 vaccination coverage touched 59,55,04,593 on Wednesday, the Union Ministry of Health and Family welfare said. The feat has been achieved through 65,52,748 sessions, it also said. “The union government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of Covid-19 vaccination throughout the country,” it also added.

Also, it informed that more than 58.07 crore (58,07,64,210) vaccine doses have been provided to states and union territories so far through the Government of India’s free of cost channel as well as direct state procurement category. Further, 51,48,970 doses are in the pipeline. Over 3.62 crores (3,62,24,601) balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered.

In a related development, the Ministry said that the testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 17,92,755 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 51.11 Cr (51,11,84,547) cumulative tests.

While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, it added that the weekly positivity rate is 1.92%, less than 3% for the last 61 days. The daily positivity rate stands at 2.10%. The daily positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 30 days and below 5% for 79 consecutive days now.
