Test Positive for Zika Virus

Kerala Health Minister Veena George has reportedly said that the state witnessed three additional cases of the Zika virus. A 26-years-old and 37-years-old from Anayara and one 25-years-old from Pettah have tested positive for the Zika virus on Wednesday.

The state’s total tally of confirmed Zika virus cases stands at 41 as the three new cases reported. Out of the total 41 registered cases, George said that five are presently active and are receiving treatment, reports news agency PTI. The confirmation was received after tests for the Zika virus were conducted at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College’s virology lab. George also said that the health condition of these residents infected with the mosquito-borne disease is satisfactory at present the minister added.


On Tuesday, Kerala had reported a Zika virus case when the test result of a woman aged 49-years-old from Thiruvananthapuram was declared positive for the viral disease, taking the total count to 38. The active cases of Zika Virus, however, have declined from eight on Tuesday to five until now.
