Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that the union government has provided 11.50 crore doses in June.
He added that state leaders should focus on the Covid-19 inoculation drives and refrain from creating panic. Dr Harsh Vardhan, in tweets, also said that he has seen irresponsible statements from various leaders regarding the largest vaccine drive.
Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has said “In the new phase of the universalisation of the Covid-19 vaccination drive, the union government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to states and UTs.” It added: “As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the states and UTs by providing them with the Covid vaccines free of cost.”
According to MoHFW, more than 33.63 crore vaccine doses have been provided by the Government of India to states/UTs until now, through the Government of India’s free of cost channel and direct state procurement category. “Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 33,73,22,514 doses (as per data available at 8 AM today), and 44,90,000 vaccine doses are in the pipeline and will be received by the states/UTs within the next 3 days.”
