Weekend Curfew

In a bid to “break the chain of transmission”, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced today that the national capital will be closed on weekends from Friday as the government assessed that the step would tackle the surge of Covid-19 cases.

According to Delhi Chief Minister, essential activities such as planned weeding will be permitted with passes during the weekend curfew. He informed that gyms and spas, restaurants, malls, auditoriums, will be closed, and cinema halls will be permitted with a one-third of their capacities on weekdays.

Kejriwal also informed that people will not be able to eat out, but can avail takeaway and home delivery services. Weekly markets, he added, will be permitted to remain open with restrictions. The government will allow one market to open on any day at a given zone.

Delhi registered 17,282 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, the highest single-day spike in the national capital since the outbreak of a pandemic.
